| Winding down for the season | |
| By glenn on9/12/2009 | |
| We are finishing the last of this seasons Spacescape series tonight. The 30 X 40 canvases are a great format for this series, and there will be four of them soon. It seems like each series becomes more complex, with more steps involved before completion. Next seasons offerings really reflect that trend. With the 36 X 48's, we have the opportunity to explore the possibility of creating paintings within the painting. This size jump is substantial, and offers quite the potential for something good. I am excited to make this size jump and work in the change in format at the same time, if successful, next seasons paintings will make a quantum leap in quality. As for size, t ... | | | Comments (0) | More... |

| At this point, the new Spacescape paintings are coming in. We have five completed, three in process & more waiting to be painted. We are doing the major push against the ending of the season. Once the rain comes to tropical Seattle, we stop for the season. The Spacescape Series has gone large with one 30 X 40 finished, one in process, & two waiting to be painted. Our plan is to finish the season with a 36 X 48. I have foreseen that the 36 X 48's may become next season's new series. The title is still percolating, but I am thinking about something like Multiple Universes. The plan is to do more small detail painting around the edges of the large burst. I am still in the process of constructing easel compon ... | | | Comments (0) | More... |

| Painting time | |
| By glenn on8/4/2009 | |
| I'm pretty excited about the next month or so. We are gearing up to create several spacescape paintings before the rain returns to the Northwest. We have four 24 X 30's , two 30 X 40's, and one 36 X 48 to paint. I am confident that the larger canvases will turn out spectacular. Team Rilfeart conducted an experiment on a couple of full size sheet rock panels and know that we can cover them. We will be painting after closing, you know where, and are welcome to participate. Rifleart is a spectator event, and anyone with a spotting scope or binoculars has a good seat. I will place an announcement on the home page of this website on painting days. | Spacescape series | |
| By glenn on5/13/2009 | |
| Spacescape 2 is close to being completed. It was painted with six strokes from my 20 vartarg. Breaking from the established formula that was developed in the Multi-brushstroke Series was a surprise to me, but this painting is spectacular. Spacescape 1 is still in process, and should be finished in a couple of weeks. Sarah has been doing some interesting painting and highlighting before and after my range painting sessions, we hope you will like it. Evolving from Multi-brushstroke to Spacescape is making me slow down in this whole process, now, the painting is finished when it is finished. Spacescape 2 did not need any strokes from my .308. Our new pattern is to do a couple of brushstrokes and bring in the canvas for drying. We have found it more relaxing to paint in the evening instead of before range opening. We will be taking ... | | | Comments (0) | More... |

| A good eye can spot Sarah and then me flying in formation with iQuad. We would like to thank John Barresi and the rest of iQuad, Steve, Bazzer, Monk, for this. Thier paitent guidence and inspiration sure helped us get to this point. The kiting community calls quad line flying "the dark side", but take it from an experienced kite flyer, quad line flying should be called the fun side. There is nothing in the kiting world as fun as having a kite that is so controllable and the skill to use it. | | | Comments (0) |

| We will be offline for a week. We are heading out to fly with iQuad. http://www.revkites.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2175 http://www.revkites.com/main/ Flying revolution kites has been a delightful pastime for around sixteen years that has become an obsession in the last two years. Our first spacescape painting has devoloped an interesting variation, and it has become one of Sarah's unique paintings. We are preparing to paint two spacescapes upon our return, they will be 24 X 30. We are working with a new custom easel that Doug Moore built for us. This new easel makes it possible to paint from all directions and orientations. Thank you Doug. | | | Comments (0) |

| multi-brushstroke | |
| By glenn on2/12/2009 | |
| I may be a little premature in this announcement, but the multi-brushstroke series ended yesterday. Our next planned series is a spacescape series. You will see a change in the last two multi-brushstroke paintings, Sarah has started experimenting with some background painting of the canvas before i do my painting. Her first try was subtle and the second canvas prep was quite bold. I hope you enjoy the changes as we experiment. Our new spacescape series will be done in a horizontal format and we will continue with Sarah's canvas prep. My painting team will be designing a new easel to accommodate this new format. We are looking at using a larger canvas, possibly 22 X 28, or 24 X 30. My initial vision sees spacescape as an even more labor intensive project where the canvas may be painted from various directions necessitating multiple drying sessions between brushstrokes.
My sincere thanks goes out to Ed Vinyard, our webmaster, who has been training Sarah to do all that computer stuff that ... | | | Comments (2) | More... |

| Instead of going out kite flying, we worked on this website all day. Or, should I say, Sarah worked on our website while I listened to music and read. Much is changing here. First, our new address will be mglennpickard.com. Since rifleart is one facet of my creative nature, we were looking for a website title to gather all forms under. No worries, if you are bookmarked, you will still find me from all other website addresses.
Eventually, I would like to show you mobiles past, and to be. I have been building mobiles for about 27 years. There are two new generations yet to be built on my current three generations of Solar System series. I have a bit of back stock on my Desktop Mobile series to show also.
Once I start scanning slides, there are many photographs to show. Candid photography is my absolute passion, and I so look forward to playing with a pro digital body to compliment my bag of lenses.
We will start the process of seal ... | | | Comments (0) | More... |
